How to Clean Wedding Dresses
1. Dry Clean
Suitable for: Most fabrics (such as satin, lace, taffeta, organza, etc.)
Note: Choose a professional dry cleaner specializing in wedding gowns. Inform the dry cleaner of any stains, loose trims, or buttons, and discuss how the trim is attached. Before packing for storage, inspect the gown and ensure it is placed in an acid-free box to prevent future contamination.
2. Hand Wash
Suitable for: Tulle
Place the Tulle between two clean, white towels during washing to prevent tearing and ensure even cleaning.
Fill a bathtub with cold water and add mild detergent or soap; for white Tulle, you can use bleach instead.
Submerge the towels for 5 minutes when washing or 20 minutes to 2 hours when bleaching, checking every 20 minutes.
Rinse the towels and Tulle thoroughly with cold water, gently scrub any spots, and wring out excess water.
How to Store and Preserve Wedding Dresses
1. Hanging Storage
Suitable for: Short-term storage (e.g., few days before the wedding)
Steps:
(1) Use non-slip hangers to avoid the dress from slipping or getting deformed.
(2) Hang the dress in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight.
(3) Cover the dress with a breathable fabric (like cotton) to prevent dust and dirt.
2. Flat Storage
Suitable for: Long-term storage (e.g., after the wedding)
Steps:
(1) Lay the dress flat on a clean, dry surface.
(2) Wrap the dress with acid-free paper or cotton fabric to avoid direct contact with the plastic garment bag.
(3) Place the dress in a large acid-free cardboard box to avoid excessive folding.
